Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in employment generation, innovation, income creation, and economic development. However, MSMEs often face challenges related to limited financial resources, skilled workforce, operational efficiency, customer management, competition, and access to advanced technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as an important digital technology that can help MSMEs address several of these challenges. AI-based applications can support business forecasting, customer relationship management, marketing, financial analysis, inventory management, fraud detection, process automation, and decision-making. This research examines the adoption of Artificial Intelligence and its potential impact on MSME business performance. The study develops a conceptual framework connecting AI adoption with operational efficiency, decision-making capability, customer satisfaction, innovation, cost optimization, and overall business performance. The paper also discusses the major factors influencing AI adoption, including technological readiness, financial capability, employee skills, management support, data availability, perceived benefits, and security concerns. The analysis indicates that effective AI adoption can improve productivity, reduce repetitive work, strengthen customer engagement, enhance decision quality, and support business growth. However, the benefits of AI are dependent on appropriate implementation, employee training, data quality, affordability, and organizational readiness. The study concludes that MSMEs should adopt AI gradually through practical, scalable, and business-oriented solutions rather than treating AI adoption solely as a technological investment
